Today is the Coming of Age Day in Japan (Seijin shiki), marking the transition from childhood to adulthood. For foreigners, this is the best chance to catch a glimpse of countless nonchalant girls in traditional yet gorgeous kimono gathered in the same place. One day for them to forget past, present and future, swept up in a whirl of makeup, laughs and alcohol.
This week-end, we rejuvenated an old song to be used as a sound track for a short movie released later this year. It’s fun to see that although I wrote it exactly 10 years ago, it didn’t age at all. I would even say that the lyrics were kind of prophetic given my recent condition. Did my inspiration come to age earlier than my attitude?
As always, Tommy’s work on guitar is glorious, with an epic outro of six layers of fuzz and distortion. Can’t wait to make you listen to it!
